Cestrians have been left wondering if there is a second spooky 'Plague Doctor' roaming the streets of Chester, because of a mysterious social media account claiming to be the eerie figure.

A Facebook account called 'Chester Plague Doctor' has attracted almost 2,000 likes to the page, which purports to be the cloaked, hooded figure who has been prowling the city streets at night for the last few weeks, scaring a number of people.

The page features status updates that appear to deliberately tease the public, such as 'I wonder how many of you will find me?' and 'Where shall I roam tonight?'.

Another post read: "I am not part of a theatre arts company or something along those lines that you may have seen about on the Internet, I will continue doing what I'm doing.

But Big Heritage, who we revealed this week were the organisation behind the stunt, insisted the account '100%' had nothing to do with them.

It was revealed earlier this week that the company had confessed to being behind the Plague Doctor mystery as part of a secret project they are launching this summer.

Dean Paton, Big Heritage's managing director, said: "We admit it. It’s us! We’ve been carrying out some discreet filming around the city centre for a new project which we’re keeping under wraps for now, but that we hope will wow the city this summer."

Yet, according to the Plague Doctor's last Facebook post two days ago, he was 'still wandering around Chester'.

The mystery deepens.
