THERE are girls and guys in South Cheshire to compare with anywhere in the world and we want you to help us prove it.

The Chronicle has again teamed up with Steven Burgin Hairdressing at Nantwich, and hair products company Wella, to present the South Cheshire Face of 2006 competition, in association with Crewe Alexandra FC.

More than £1,600-worth of prizes are at stake in our popular annual hunt which is now in its sixth year and will culminate in a glittering finals night at Crewe Alexandra on Saturday, April 22.

The competition aims to prove that there are model looks in this area to rival anywhere in Britain.

An all-expenses-paid session with a well known fashion photographer, worth an estimated £1,000, is the main prize on offer to the winner, who becomes the South Cheshire Face of 2006, as well as a range of other prizes. In previous years winning has also opened the door to modelling opportunities.

We are not looking for wafer-thin model figures but simply great faces - and the competition is open to men and women

Steven Burgin, of Steven Burgin Hairdressing, says: 'There are some fantastic faces out there.

'Every year the competition has just got better and better with some great entrants and a superb finals night.'

The competition's highlight is the gala evening in the superb main suite at the Alexandra Stadium in Gresty Road when the overall winners will be selected by a panel of expert judges

Proceeds will go to the Wingate Trust at Wrenbury which helps special needs and disabled children.

But for seven weeks before then a weekly winner is also being chosen to receive a free bottle of champagne courtesy of Edencroft Fine Wines.

Please note: Becoming a weekly winner does not guarantee automatic selection to the finals night. nTo enter you don't have to be a six-foot tall girl with a figure like a rake or a guy with a rippling six-pack. We are simply looking for people with great faces.

All you have to do is fill in the entry form on this page and return it with a recent head and shoulders photograph of yourself to: Steven Burgin Hairdressing, 60 Hospital Street, Nantwich.

Entries can also be dropped at the Chronicle office at 32-34 Victoria Street, Crewe.
