LIFE saving rescue workers are wanted at the North East Wales Search and Rescue Team (Newsar).

Currently Newsar has about 40 volunteers who assist people who are missing or in need of rescue in North East Wales and Cheshire.

They need volunteers who are committed, and willing to learn and work as part of a close and supportive team.

Operating in mountainous terrain and in more suburban areas, the volunteers attend an average of 30 call-outs per year and take great pride in the service.

Newsar provides a 24 hour/365 day per year service and can be called out via the police.

It is a registered charity and, like all mountain rescue teams, receives no government funding.

Anyone interested in joining the team should fill in the application form on the website and send it to the address shown by 31st January 2008. Successful applicants will start training with Newsar in May.
