CHILDREN dressed to impress for what is fast becoming a popular tradition at Sealand Primary School.

Some of the more creative costumes on show included a giant peach, a cat in a hat, a teapot – and an Oompa-Loompa!

Year 1 and 2 teacher Isabel Kirkham said: “We’ve been running World Book Day events for the last three years, all the staff and the children dress up as their favourite characters.

“We had a whole school ‘together time’ with competitions for the best and most original outfits, and we also did story slots where teachers swapped classes and told stories.

“We had a whole day of story and book-related activities – it was fantastic.”
