POLICE are appealing for residents and workers to be vigilant after scrap metal was stolen in Hoole.
Thieves have targeted unoccupied buildings and work vans to steal copper piping in the area.
PCSO Keith Bartlett said: “I would ask people to be vigilant, especially if there are unoccupied buildings nearby. Theft of piping from these buildings can make them unsafe.
“Work vans are also being targeted so I would appeal for people to keep their vans securely locked and parked in well lit areas if possible.
“I would also urge anyone who sees people acting suspiciously around empty buildings or vehicles to contact the police.”
