HUNDREDS of Scouts, Cubs and Beavers headed for Chester city centre to stage a St George’s Day parade.

The event on Sunday was taking place as part of a year of celebrations to mark 100 years of Scouting in Chester and District.

Young people and their leaders gathered on the Castle Square car park before setting off on the parade which took them up Bridge Street and Northgate Street before arriving at their destination of Chester Cathedral.

Everyone then gathered inside for a special St George’s Day service which included a talk by the Bishop of Chester, the Rt Rev Dr Peter Forster

Once the formalities were over, the youngsters were able to enjoy themselves at a party which took place on the Dean’s Field immediately after the service.
