DRIVERS in Halton are being warned not to leave expensive satellite navigation systems on display after 63 systems were stolen in Run-corn and Widnes this year.

Crime Reduction Advisor Phil Buckley said: 'Our advice is to remove everything associated with the device from your vehicle when it's unattended, thieves will look out for tell tale clues, so if you have a cradle that suctions onto the wind-screen, remove it and rub off any marks that may be left.'

Officers are also warning people not to buy satellite navigation systems from the 'street' as these goods are likely to have been stolen.

Anyone offered a navigation system in this way is asked to report it to the police on 0845 458 0000, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
