The headteacher of a school which was raided by callous thieves has branded the attack a ‘real invasion of privacy’.

Sandiway Primary School, on Weaverham Road in Northwich, was broken into on Saturday afternoon (March 21).

Fifteen laptop computers and three iPads were stolen from four classrooms between 12.30 and 1.30pm.

Headteacher Chris Priddey told the Chronicle the burglary has had a ‘significant impact’ on the school community and has caused a lot of inconvenience.

“We are really disappointed,” he said.

“Rather than buying more laptops, I now have to replace 15. I’ve also got to repair the fire door that they smashed.

“The children are really upset by it too, the fact that these people have been in their school – it’s a real invasion of privacy.”

Mr Priddey explained that the replacement computers will have to be purchased using school funds as the insurance will not cover the whole amount required.

But he went on to praise the response of local police officers: “The police have been brilliant. They were here within ten minutes of the alarm going off.”

Sgt Ellie Atkinson, of Northwich Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said enquiries are ongoing and urged anyone who saw anything suspicious to get in touch.
