HUNDREDS of residents in Saltney got into the festive spirit for the town’s third annual Christmas parade and fair.

Community leaders have hailed the event, which took place at the Saltney Tavern, formerly known as Saltney Social Club, a big success.

Invited guests including Saltney mayor Richard Lloyd and Flintshire County Council chairwoman Hilary McGuill travelled to the venue on a vintage bus followed by a procession of local schoolchildren and Scouts.

Father Christmas arrived at the Tavern on Deeside Rotary Club’s Christmas float.

Visitors enjoyed festive refreshments, stalls and musical performances from pupils of Wood Memorial, St Anthony’s and Saltney Ferry Primary School, as well as St David’s High School.

Saltney mayor Richard Lloyd said: “It was fantastic to see the community come together. Everyone had a great time.

“Thank you to all the local businesses who supported the event. Particularly all those who provided prizes for the Christmas draw and Londis for supplying crisps and pop for the schoolchildren.”
