AMBITIOUS proposals for a new community complex including a library, pharmacy and police headquarters are planned for Saltney.

A feasibility study is to be carried out on the proposed complex, sited near the Morrisons supermarket off the High Street.

Interested parties including Flintshire County Council representatives, health board Betsi Cadwaladr and Saltney Town Mayor Veronica Gay met to discuss the way forward.

Cllr Gay said: “The feasibility study would be reported back to by September at the latest, and I really hope it is sorted as soon as possible.

“This complex would benefit so many people.

“The main challenge we have now is attracting corporate investment, we have got to work hard on that. Hopefully by September we can move the project forward.”

Lawrence Rawsthorne, Flintshire County Council’s head of libraries, culture and heritage, said: “The council’s regeneration service has offered to fund a feasibility study .

“This will include an assessment of the opportunities, constraints and funding possibilities in addition to the community priorities and views expressed by town and county councillors.”
