Commuters are stuck in delays on the M56 after a crash on the M56.

Long queues have formed heading eastbound at junctions 15 and 14 during rush hour on Wednesday (October 26).

Initially it was thought the police had been called about two separate incidents.

The collision involving a car and a transit van in the outside lane was reported at 4.45pm.

North West Ambulance Service confirmed they had been called out and said there were 'no serious injuries'.

All lanes have been reopened, but congestion remains as of 6.30pm.

Highways England has warned drivers to expect delays of up to 40 minutes, with queues stretching back past J15 and also affecting the M53.

They expect traffic will be back to normal by 7.30pm.
