RURAL passengers have been given a boost after Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC) invested in a new shuttle bus.

Positive feedback from the existing service taking passengers from around the Chester area to Deeside Industrial Park has encouraged the council to improve provision.

The shuttle bus also takes passengers in Stamford Bridge, Barrow and Ashton Hayes to Chester and provides links to neighbouring rural communities in Tarporley and Malpas.

Councillor Lynn Riley, executive member for community and environment, said: “We know there is a real need for better public transport from our rural areas to places of employment and our investment in this service is a direct response to what our customers are telling us.

“The shuttle provides the right service at the right time and also helps to reduce the number of cars on our roads.

“It’s one example of the authority’s ongoing commitment to serving both our rural and urban communities with alternative forms of public transport.”
