A true team effort means the fundraising campaign to bring a specialist teacher over from America to work with an autistic 11-year-old from Kingsley is one step closer.

A group of 20 completed the Morrisons Great Manchester Run on May 10, raising more than £2,000 to support Jack Armstrong’s educational programme.

Jack’s mum Natalie Armstrong, who home-schools Jack with the help of volunteers, explained that the teacher will give them guidance and training to aid her son’s development.

Natalie wants to thank all those who have got behind their cause.

She said it was ‘fabulous’ to see everyone in their running tops with ‘Jack’s Team’ on the back.

“To the people that ran the race, a massive thank you for taking part for Jack not just that day but for all their training, their interest in Jack and wanting to make a difference in his life,” she said.

“To those who donated, a big thank you – it means a lot and will mean more ongoing training for Jack’s team to help him reach his full potential.”

Two more volunteers who can spare two hours each week are sought.
