RUBBER recyclers Dunweedin’s Frodsham operation will be closed from today (Friday).

The company, which turns tyres into useful rubber crumbs for gardens, was established in Frodsham in 2003 but has outgrown the site at Weaver Park Estate, Mill Lane.

General manager Bob Jones said: “All the staff are moving so there won’t be any job losses. Actually it will create more jobs.

“It has outgrown the facility and we have a new partnership with SITR so we are moving the operation from Frodsham to Middlewich to combine the businesses.”

SITR are a Cheshire-based IT recycling firm which has branched into tyre recycling with £4m investment at its Middlewich plant.

“They will be supplying some of the material products we need. It is quite a large operation and something that was physically impossible to do in Frodsham.

“It is a real step forward,” added Mr Jones.

New state-of-the-art equipment has been installed at the partnership’s headquarters in Middlewich which will mean new products for Dunweedin’ this year.
