A MUM was delighted when her Roy turned up to entertain.

Majorie Clinging was among residents at the CLS care home on Wealstone Lane in Upton who enjoyed a visit from folk singer Roy Clinging as part of the home’s varied entertainment calendar.

Roy, a full-time entertainer, has been involved with folk music for over 30 years, performing at a number of clubs and festivals across the UK and USA.

He has recorded CDs of a collection of songs relating to Cheshire, supported by the Cheshire County Council and An Honest Working Man, a diverse collection of traditional folk songs.

He also maintains a keen interest in songs of the sea, regularly performing at maritime events.

CLS operates more than 30 residential care homes in the North West and staff at Wealstone believe giving residents the option to take part in activities is key to creating a friendly and sociable atmosphere where they are encouraged to stay active and feel at home.

Roy’s visit was the first in a series to be organised at Wealstone during 2009 by the care home’s activity co-ordinator.

Residents are treated to a varied programme tailored to their needs.

In addition, staff accompany residents to a number of shows and fêtes in the community and arrange walks and canal boat trips in the warmer months.
