The sun came out to play for the Rotary Club of Frodsham and Helsby’s annual Festival in the Park on Sunday (July 6).

The free event in Castle Park brought together several local organisations, who staged a family-friendly show for hundreds of people.

Mayor of Frodsham Allen Wales officially opened the festival and thanked the Rotary Club for organising it, with support from Castle Park Arts Centre and financial assistance from Cheshire West and Chester Council and Frodsham Town Council.

Attractions included some 32 local groups with their stands, a barbecue, fairground rides, a Punch and Judy show, and a cake sale by Inner Wheel.

Castle Park Arts Centre hosted art exhibitions and demonstrations, refreshments and entertainment by Stuart’s Blue Grass Band.

Acts including Halabia Dancers, Zodiac Amateur Operatic Society and children’s entertainer Jo Jingles performed for the crowds on the main stage in front of Castle Park House.

The day was rounded off by the Rotary Club of Frodsham and Helsby president Frank Ball thanking all those who performed, helped to organise and attended the free festival.

Sam Williams, member of the Community Service Committee and the main organiser of the event for Frodsham and Helsby Rotary Club, said: “It was absolutely wonderful to see Castle Park in all its glory and many families enjoying themselves in the sun.

“We felt it was the best attended festival that we have organised for the town and it shows what a great community Frodsham really is.”
