BLUSHING bride-to-be Nichola Oakes leapt at the chance to pop the question during a special trip to Chester Zoo.
Nichola, 35, took full advantage of the Leap Year and asked long-term partner Chris Woodcock, 27, to marry her.
Nichola took a stunned Chris to the zoo’s Leap of Faith bandstand where she asked him to tie the knot.
A delighted Nichola, who will now get to choose her own design of engagement ring, said: “Chris has wanted to get married for a long time. I know he has always wanted a fairytale wedding, but I’ve always said no. Up until now, I’ve been too scared to think about marriage.”
Nichola and Chris have been together for four years after meeting at a taxi rank.
The couple live in Telford, Shropshire, and Nichola had told Chris he was coming to the zoo for a treat.
“I think Chris might have had an idea, or certainly hoped, that something was going on,” added Nichola.
Chris and Nichola were also treated to a luxury hamper to help their celebrations along.
