BUDDING rockstars will battle it out for the chance to get their voice heard globally at a charity music night in Chester tomorrow (Friday May 24).

We Rock and Roll has been organised by Chester Macmillan, a group of volunteers who raise funds and awareness of Macmillan Cancer Support across Chester and the surrounding areas.

Held at The Chester Bells from 8pm, the event gives wannabe singers the chance to perform their own unique version of a song of their choice onstage with the support of a full backing band.

The best performance, which will be decided on through sponsorship and how many votes they receive on the night, will then be available to download from iTunes, and each one recorded for participants to take home.

Chester Macmillan have already raised thousands of pounds for the cancer charity through various fundraising events including a sponsored Snowdon walk, and have more in the pipeline.

Ben Johansson, fundraising group manager of Chester Macmillan, said: “We want to give musicians the opportunity to join a band and rock out for the evening with the chance to gain valuable experience and a night to remember.”
