Children from a playgroup in Lache have been learning about the importance of road safety thanks to the support of Sanctuary Housing.

The leading housing provider has funded the cost of painting road markings, including zebra crossings and a roundabout, in the playground of Little Lache Playgroup.

The road markings are being used by the children to understand how to travel safely on the road when playing on their scooters and bikes.

In addition, Sanctuary’s youth engagement officer Libbie Stock hosted a fun session at the nursery to help teach children about safely crossing the road and the different forms of transport which use the road.

Libbie said: “Safety on the road is a really important message so we were delighted to fund this project and help the children at Little Lache learn more about the dangers of the road and develop their safety senses. The road markings in the playground are proving very popular and we look forward to seeing the children continue their learning by using these.”

Manager of Little Lache Playgroup Kelly Lawrence added: “It’s fantastic for the children to have some practical experience of stopping at zebra crossings and slowing down for roundabouts as they play outside in a fun environment. Thanks to Sanctuary Housing for their support of our playgroup.”
