A RIDING arena would not be inappropriate development in the borough’s green belt, planners suggested.

The application was put forward on land at Bradley Lane, Frodsham by Mr and Mrs Hall.

Mr and Mrs Hall told planning officers at Cheshire West and Chester Council the arena would occupy part of a field used for horse riding behind a high hedge along Bradley Lane. The menage would be used for private purposes only involving three horses.

No representations were made by Frodsham borough councillors Andrew Dawson and Lynn Riley who were notified and there were no objections from Frodsham Town Council.

No comments were received as a result of the application being advertised.

The main issues included the green belt, the effect of the arena on the character and appearance of the area and on its environmental quality, planners suggested. The menage would have little effect on the openness of the green belt and would not be prominent.

The arena was recommended for approval and the borough council agreed Mr and Mrs Hall could have permission.
