THIS year’s RHS Show Tatton Park was a success despite the heavy downpours.

More than 90,000 visitors attended the five day event at Knutsford, which ended on Sunday, with Saturday proving the busiest day.

Many families made the most of the kids go free offer with children enjoying interactive activities such as art workshops and gardens for children.

The two new garden categories were well received with visitors and the Tatton Park Young Designer of the Year competition at this year’s show was used as a platform to launch the national RHS Young Designer of the Year competition due to take place at the 2010 event.

Chris Beardshaw scooped Best in Show in the Show Garden category for his Ness Botanische garden for Visit Chester and Cheshire/NWDA – the first time any designer has won Best in Show two consecutive years.

Kris Hulewicz, show manager for Tatton, said: “Once again the show has been fantastically well received by thousands of visitors throughout the week coming to see world class gardens and floral displays.

“I’m thrilled that our new garden categories, T,atton Park Young Designer and Visionary Gardens were a real hit.

“I’m looking forward to staging another splendid show in 2010.”
