A distraught mum whose treasured engagement ring has gone AWOL is offering a reward for its return.

Kate Grannell believes she lost her white gold diamond cluster ring at Chester Zoo, Broughton Shopping Park or Wrexham Recycling Centre, and has even recruited metal detectorists to help her find it.

Kate explained that it was her ‘most precious and sentimental’ possession.

“I know most people say that but it was even more important than my wedding ring,” she said.

“It symbolises everything about us and has all the memories attached to it; the most perfect proposal and how we were as a couple before we committed to spending our lives with each other.

“It was and still is the most beautiful ring I have ever seen, and so unique.”

Kate last saw the ring on the morning of May 28, having put it inside her purse along with her wedding ring before visiting Chester Zoo.

At around 12.30pm she left the zoo and returned to her home in Wrexham to put her little boy Hunter down for an afternoon nap.

Then she paid a visit to Broughton Shopping Park at around 4.30pm.

From there she drove to Wrexham Recycling Centre, which is where she saw her wedding ring in the footwell of her car and realised it had fallen out of her purse.

But the engagement ring was nowhere to be seen.

She returned to the zoo and spent two hours combing the car park with the help of security staff, to no avail.

Two volunteers from the Crewe and Nantwich Metal Detecting Society even gave up their evening to search the car park.

Now Kate is offering a cash reward to anyone who hands it in.
