RESIDENTS spoke of their shock and disgust after human remains were found on their doorstep.

Bystanders on Manor Road in Sealand, about 300 yards from where the first grim find was made, said police had been scouring the area for days.

They saw forensics teams removing black bags from the search site at about midday on Thursday.

One neighbour said: “It’s horrible, something like this happening on your doorstep. Awful.”

Another, who did not want to be named, said: “It’s sick. We are used to the police being down here, but not for something like this. It’s horrendous.”

About three miles away in Higher Ferry police are still guarding the entrance to a cycle path near to where more remains were found on the banks of the Dee.

One resident on Ferry Lane said officers descended on the quiet road on Friday afternoon.

“I didn’t realise what was happening at the time,” she said. “A neighbour told me there was a missing woman so I assumed it was to do with that.

“There was a big police presence. I was told they had found remains in Sealand and it soon became apparent there were more here. It’s terrible.”

Dog walker Tom Flanders, from Chester, said: “I come down here all the time, it could’ve been me that found it. It’s horrible – her poor family.”
