TWO communities are delighted action is being taken to crack down on speeding motorists.
Portable speed awareness signs have been installed in Bretton Lane, Bretton, and Chester Road, Saltney Ferry, in a bid to clamp down on drivers using the roads as a race track.
The signs will record the speed of passing vehicles and show drivers how fast they are travelling.
Community leaders and residents in both areas have previously reported seeing cars travelling at much more than the 30mph limit.
Saltney mayor Cllr Richard Lloyd said: “This has been a problem for a long time. I appeal to all motorists to drive with care and caution.”
PCSO Jason Knowles said speeding had always been a hot topic in public meetings police had held with residents in Bretton, Broughton and Saltney.
He added: “The speed sign should hopefully remind drivers that this is a 30mph road.”
