VALE Royal’s biggest residents’ association is to hold a public meeting on Tuesday night to discuss the possible disbanding of the group after more than seven years.

Winsford’s Grange Residents’ Association (GRA), chaired by Mike Kennedy, will meet at Grange Court at 7pm to ‘consult the residents on folding as an association’.

‘We envisage it might be our last public meeting but we will carry on as a committee to oversee outstanding projects,’ said Mr Kennedy, of Springbank Crescent.

‘We used to work really closely with a lot of other agencies and receive massive support, which in some areas does not seem to be quite the same any more.

‘After seven years it is becoming harder and harder to get the response we need.’

Mr Kennedy said the association could continue if someone wants to take over from him as chairman, but he will be leaving to commit himself to other voluntary work.

He cites the completion of the Basford Way play area project, within the next few months, as the appropriate point to step down.

‘We will carry on for the time being under the same name but I don’t envisage the association as such to be.’
