A PLAN to fence off a community green in Chester may help drive out nuisance motorcyclists.

Paul Noon, of Blacon Adventure Playground, is hoping to win a National Lottery and BBC Breathing Spaces grant of £7,723 to fence off the area next to the playg round.

In a report put to Blacon Area Committee last week Mr Noon said: 'Nuisance motorcyclists would not be able to access the green.

'The addition of the green [to the playground] would increase the opportunities for children and young people to contribute to their community.

'With the addition of tree, shrub and hedge planting, residents overlooking the green would have a pleasant and pastoral view.'

He has spoken to 30 of the 56 homes overlooking the green near Shelly Road, Tennyson Walk and Kipling Road.

They unanimously agreed to fencing the green off as part of the playground's activities.

Now they are waiting until May to find out whether his application has been successful.

The money would pay for a square post and rail fence which would be clad in thick welded mesh to keep town farm animals in an neighbouring dogs out.
