REPLACEMENT signage was put forward at a village post office and convenience store occupying a cottage style building.

The application was made by Musgrave Retail Partners at 41-43 High Street, Malpas at the junction of High Street and Chester Road.

The premises are in Malpas village centre and in the conservation area, according to a report.

Planning officers at Cheshire West and Chester Council were told approval was being sought for a total of three signs, all of which would be non-illuminated. Two would be hanging signs.

Malpas Parish Council and conservation officers raised concerns about illumination which had originally been proposed and this was removed.

Non-traditional materials which had been suggested were also said to be inappropriate in the conservation area.

The plans were amended, the report stated and the signage would now preserve the character of the surrounding conservation area.

The plans were recommended for approval and the borough council agreed it could have consent.
