One of Italy’s most renowned chefs is to host a special night of fine dining at Chester Cathedral .

Francesco Gotti, the current executive chef at Bobadilla Restauraunt in Bergamo near Milan, will bring a taste of the Mediterranean to the cathedral refectory with his authentic Northern-Italian inspired menu on Friday July 31.

And guests will get the chance to share drinks and canapés in the cloister garden with the 44-year-old who is known to Italian TV viewers for his appearances on Junior Masterchef and Italy’s Got Talent.

Gotti was also country winner of the Global Chef Challenge - a prestigious competition established by Auguste Escoffier.

Tickets costing £45 per person are already on sale at the cathedral now for the special event, which features a menu including aubergine and calamari pasta, loin of lamb with lemon potato cake and traditional tiramisu.

Prosecco, canapes and coffee and pralines are also included.
