A CHESTER pub will be stepping back in time to coin in the cash for Help for Heroes charity.
Staff at The Red Lion on Northgate Street will be donning their 1940s outfits to host a ‘Blitz Britain’ themed night on Saturday (May 1) from 8pm.
Help for Heroes was formed in October 2007 to help the wounded Servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq.
Red Lion staff member and event organiser Allison Little, said: “The pub is going to be decorated to resemble war-time Britain, with bunting, Union Jacks, spitfire pictures etc, and there will be 40s music and food as well.”
She added: “We are holding a raffle with some amazing prizes which have been donated by local businesses, such as two six month memberships at the Crown Plaza gym, a three-course Sunday lunch and wine for four at the Pied Bull, a cheese hamper, a fruit basket, and a cut and finish at Andrew Collinge, along with many more. We will also be holding an auction in which our management team will be sold off as personal waiters/waitresses for the night, and some donated items will also be sold. I’m just looking to raise as much as possible for the charity, its an inspiring cause and deserves the funds.”
