A TARPORLEY restaurant has been highly commended in a top curry competition.

The Red Fox restaurant near Tarporley, owned by Abdul Jilani from Neston, has been Highly Commended in the Tiffin Cup competition.

The competition is held each year at the House of Commons to find the best South Asian restaurant in the country. MPs from across the country were asked to nominate their favourite curry house in their constituency.

The Tiffin Cup winner was chosen from a list of 58 restaurants that were nominated.

MP Andrew Miller said: “I am delighted that Abdul has been Highly Commended in the Tiffin Cup and was very pleased that he was able to travel to London to receive his prize at the House of Commons ceremony. This is such a prestigious award and to be honoured in this way is testament to the fantastic efforts of all the staff at The Red Fox.”

The competition was judged by a panel of experts led by TV chef Ainsley Harriott. The competition was not only about culinary skill but also raised funds for ROKO Cancer, a charity specialising in breast cancer awareness.
