Students from Bishop Heber High School in Malpas are celebrating their best GCSE results yet.
This year more students than ever before achieved 5 or more A* -C grades including English and Maths with 84% of students coming up to par and all students receiving at least 5 GCSEs.
30 students achieved A and A* grades in at least 8 subjects, including Anya Champaneria, Rosie Cornforth, Cameron Cundill, Niamh Doyle , Jessica Graham, Abbey Harthill, Sarah Lister , Calypso Lord, Emily Rose, Eleanor Collard, Rebecca Gudgion, Hayley Harman, Lucy King James Realff, Liam Roberts, Rachel Studley and Thomas Sweetnam who all gained these grades in 9 or more subjects.
The results in Chemistry, Chinese, English Literature, Geography, History, and Religious Studies were all considerably above national expectations for the best performing schools.
Headteacher David Curry said he is ‘delighted’ with the results.
“It is our best set of results yet and shows that Bishop Heber High School continues to prepare its students for the challenges of A-level and beyond.
“This is a wonderful achievement for both students and staff, and is testimony to their hard work and commitment.
“I’d like to congratulate all our students on their success.
“The hard work of the students themselves, together with the excellent teaching of my colleagues on the staff and the support of the students’ families has led to these outstanding results.”
He added: “Our Head of Sixth Form is looking forward to welcoming most of our Year 11 back to our Sixth Form to continue their learning and study.
“Our excellent A-level results last week, together with these very encouraging results continue to demonstrate that Bishop Heber High School offers exciting and successful learning opportunities for young people.
“For those of our students who will be seeking training, employment or college opportunities we wish them well in their future and thank them for their contribution to our school”.
