Back to normal
Both Google and Inrix now showing traffic moving freely. Safe driving everyone.
Slow traffic
Traffic and travel site Inrix is still saying there is slow traffic westbound between junctions 14 and 15.
Queues had built up back to junction 12 so it is no surprise it is taking a while to ease.
All lanes reopened
Just like that, it seems the incident has been cleared up.
Highways England have said the M56 has now been fully reopened and the queues are now easing.
There is still heavy congestion in the area so stick with us and we will let you know when traffic is flowing freely again.

Handed over to Highways
North West Motorway Police said they have handed over the vehicle recovery to Highways England.
Officers had earlier advised motorists to allow extra time for their journey.
Delays of 30 minutes
The Highways England website says there are currently delays of 30 minutes due to the accident.
At the moment they expect the incident to be cleared by 1.45pm and for traffic to have returned to normal by 2.45pm.

There is heavy traffic on the M56 heading towards Chester due to an overturned car.
The crash happened near to junction 15, the exchange with the M56, at about midday.
