REBRANDING was proposed at a petrol station.

The application was made by Shell at the Total filling station at Three Ways Garage, Chester Road, Helsby.

The fuel company told planning officers at Cheshire West and Chester Council it was seeking consent to replace signage on the forecourt canopy, the car wash, pumps and shop.

A free-standing sign for fuel pricing would be replaced by a new 5m high sign.

Replacement fuelling facilities including storage tanks, pump islands and a canopy were approved earlier this year, according to a report.

No objections were raised by Helsby Parish Council or by the highway authority.

The signs would rebrand the petrol station and replace the existing signs on a like for like basis, planners explained.

They would not be particularly prominent on that part of Chester Road, opposite a sports club and adjacent to residential properties.

The number and a style of the signs was said to be acceptable.

The application was recommended for approval and the borough council agreed that Shell could have consent.
