One of Britain’s most senior former detectives has volunteered his expertise to the campaign to uncover the truth about the disappearance of Rebecca Coriam, who vanished from a Disney cruise ship nearly five years ago.

Commander Roy Ramm served as head of specialist operations at the Metropolitan Police, where he spent 27 years, and has extensive experience of missing person investigations.

He decided to join the effort to find out what happened to Rebecca following media coverage of the investigation in the autumn.

Former Chester Catholic High School pupil Rebecca Coriam, who lived in Guilden Sutton , was 24 years old when she went missing from the liner she was working on as it sailed off the coast of Mexico on March 22, 2011.

Chester MP Chris Matheson , who is coordinating the campaign, says welcoming Commander Ramm to the team feels like ‘moving the big guns on to the field of play’.

Mr Matheson said: “We are really grateful that Commander Ramm has offered to assist us with this investigation.

"He was one of the most senior police officers in the country and is a hugely experienced detective. His expertise and knowledge will be invaluable.

“People need to understand that this story just isn’t going to go away.

"We already have a large bunch of evidence and our team will keep working to get more.

"To those reading this, perhaps online abroad, who have information about this case, I suggest you get in contact with us, because we’re not stopping now.”
