IN JUST two weeks, readers have raised a staggering £11,000 to make a dream come true for a little boy with an inoperable brain tumour.

Last week, we told you that we had already raised the £3,000 needed to send six-year-old Sam Fynn on holiday to Center Parcs with his family and beagle puppy Todd.

But donations have continued to flood in from children, adults and businesses touched by the youngster's brave battle.

The family now have enough money to buy Sam an electric wheelchair, which will help him keep his independence as his condition deteriorates. The left over cash will go to a cancer research charity of the Fynn family's choice.

This week the family are busy preparing to fly to Disneyland Paris with Sam - though he will have to leave his beloved dog behind.

Wish charity Star-light have paid for Sam, his brother Damian, 12, sister Shani, 10, mother Caroline and father Andrew to go to Disneyland Paris for three nights and two days.

The family, of Great Sutton, will pay for an extra day and Sam's grandparents and other relatives will fly over to join them.

Graham Fair, Sam's grandfather, said: 'We are all looking forward to getting away from it all and spending quality time with Sam.

'Sam loves anything Disney and he especially wants to meet Mickey Mouse. We have even booked a special breakfast with the Disney characters.'

He added: 'The response to the Sam Fynn appeal has been absolutely overwhelming. So many people want to help us and that is wonderful. Thank you to everyone.'

Sam's mum Caroline said: 'Sam is doing well this week and he is looking forward to Disneyland. We just take it one day at a time with him.' Among other donations this week, the Bell family who run Bell Associates, based in Mollington, sent in a cheque for £1,000 to the Sam Fynn Appeal.

And Terry and Janice Jones of Terry and Co Hairdressing, Stanney Lane, Ellesmere Port, sent in a cheque for £100. And they held a raffle with vouchers as prizes to raise even more money.

Terry said: 'We wanted to do anything we could to help Sam and his family.'

Pensioners Bill and Doris Millar held an Open Garden Day at their cottage in Waverton last Sunday. And, even though it rained, they managed to raise £230.

Doris said: 'Bill loves gardening and we often hold garden open days to raise money for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd. Our family read the story about Sam and it was very moving, we wanted to do what we could to help.'

Soldiers go on the run to help total

SOLDIERS in war-torn Basra have joined forces to help the Sam Fynn Appeal.

The Cheshire Regiment were so moved when they heard Sam's story, they decided to run 120 miles around their Iraq base-camp to raise money.

The run will take place on Tuesday, July 27 and corporal Terry Finlay says the soldiers already have £1,000 of sponsorship from their colleagues.

In an e-mail he wrote: 'Myself and other members of my platoon were so moved when we read the story that we have decided that we would like to help.

'The idea is that 11 members of SP and B company will run a total of 120 miles around our camp. We started the sponsorship forms tonight (Wednesday) and have already raised just under £1,000 and we still have the rest of the battle group to go. We hope the money we raise can bring some happiness to the family.

'It's the least we can do after all the support the local community has shown us while we are in Iraq.'
