Clare Willoughby: "I looked out of my bedroom window and could see an orange glow. I kicked my other half out of bed and went for a nosey.

"There was one fire engine in Lightfoot Street at that point and the police were trying to get everyone out of their houses next to the fire and then they moved everyone across from Lightfoot Street.

"When we first got there, there werent too many people around but as the people were evacuated from their houses, the crowd grew. In the end, there were about 50 or so people watching the fire.

"We could see the building which was well alight. It was an absolutely massive fire. We could see the roof was caving in and so was the rest of the building.

"I think the only thing you will be able to do with that building afterwards is to demolish it."

This was the second time Clare had suffered a rude awakening due to a major fire in Hoole - about 14 years ago she remembers the night a blaze ripped through most of Lightfoot Street itself.

"It was a similar thing - I woke up and could see an orange glow through the bedroom window but I didnt go out to see it that time."

Matthew Jensen:  "It was a very cold place to work in winter, but there was a great community spirit in there. I will miss it."

Grahame on our Facebook page ( www.facebook.com/chesterchronicle ): What a nightmare for all, especially rail users, coming on top of the awful weather . . . and being evacuated from your house in the freezing cold, better safe than sorry though!

Chris Welsh: "I am a resident of Lightfoot Street in Chester adjacent to where the fire at the Enterprise Centre was. I fell asleep on the couch after watching the episodes of Coronation Street i had recorded. Just before 4am I was woken by an alarm which I thought to be a car alarm. I looked outside my window and saw the warehouse accross the road from me was being ravaged by fire, I dialled 999 and managed to record some footage on my mobile. After watching the scene unfold for about 20 minutes a Fire Fighter knocked on our door telling us to evacuate. I was able to get My fiancee, the kids and the dog safely to my mums house and then returned to the scene to find out what was going on. I have just been back now some 5 hours after the incident and am still unable to gain access to the house. I was a firefighter a few years back and noticed that they seem to be dampening down the embers now so hopefully all will be well to return very soon."
