A TALENTED flautist has been offered a coveted place in a top youth orchestra.

Queen’s School student Hannah Roberts, of Hope, haas been accepted into the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain.

The experience will deepen and broaden her understanding of Chamber Music in particular and will culminate in a concert in Oxford next summer.

Hannah, 16, said: “I am very excited at the prospect of being a part of such a fantastic orchestra. I am also thrilled that I will be working under the direction of some of the finest teachers in the country from the Royal Academy of Music, London and the Birmingham Conservatoire.

“I am also looking forward to learning the skill of conducting, which is a first for me as well as receiving master classes.”

Hannah aims to study music at university and become a professional musician.

Hannah is already a student at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.

Deputy head Irene Jones said: "This is excellent news and I'm delighted that Hannah is going to benefit from such an exceptional opportunity. I'm sure that the tuition will be superb.”
