TWO girls from Chester’s Queen’s School received top accolades at a school competition in Manchester.

Isabelle Ardron and Ruth Hoarewon outstanding delegates awards at a Model United Nations conference.

The award is given to the group who have argued and persuaded consistently and to a high standard in all the debates.

Students from Years 10 and 11 locked horns on a number of issues including Iran and the occupied territories in the Middle East, the status of women and the HIV pandemic in Africa and the resolution of two global emergencies.

Sophie Rao, 15, said: “It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and made me more confident as debater. ”
