A CHESTER girl may be the driving force behind a leading car manufacturer’s future plans.

Queen’s School pupil Kara Chin ha won a UK competition for her design for a car of the future for Toyota. Her design for the 5th Toyota Dream Car Art Contest was featured at a special event at the company’s UK headquarters in Surrey.

Kara, now 16, won the 13-15 age category of the competition. As well as the trip to Surrey she also won an iPod Touch and gets the opportunity to visit Japan in August, where her design will represent the UK in the world-wide competition. Judges will include the famous games artist Akira Toriyama who created Dragon Ball and involve entries from more than 50 countries.

Kara called her design ‘A Kar-ra’ basing it on personal car experiences to “satisfy all family needs”.

The Year 11 pupil said: “I like art and want to study product design or art. It took me ages to complete over the holidays but I sent my entry in early.

“Winning was a great experience. We saw the production plant and headquarters in Surrey which was really interesting, full of real high technology equipment which was explained to us. It would be brilliant to visit Japan, meet the designers.”
