Swimmers from The Queen’s School in Chester have reached the English Schools Swimming Association’s National Finals to be held at the London Aquatics Centre.

Both the junior and senior teams from the city centre GSA school will be swimming against the top 30 teams in England on November 19.

The junior squad – made up of Gracie Anwyl, Tara Das Gupta, Eleanor Gill and Isabelle Thane will compete in the girls’ medley relay after qualifying 13th in the country. They will also compete in the girls’ freestyle relay after qualifying 23rd in the country for this discipline.

Sophie Clarkson 16, from Tarvin, Isabelle Anwyl 16, from Flintshire, Anna Banim 15, and Isabel Gelder, 15 both from Chester will compete in the senior age group

The senior swim squad – made up of Isabelle Anwyl, Anna Banim, Sophie Clarkson and Isabel Gelder – will compete in the girls’ medley after qualifying as reserves in the senior age category.

All the girls are currently in Year 11 and will be competing against pupils in Years 12 and 13.

Head of sport and fitness Gemma Glynn said: “This is an excellent achievement by our swim teams. The girls gave everything they had on the day and it proved to be completely worth it. We are very proud of their efforts and looking with anticipation to our day at the Olympic Pool, competing against the best of the best in England.”
