TWO high school teachers are getting on their bikes to raise funds for fencing equipment at their school.

Charlie Clubb and Sean Taylor, PE teachers at Queen’s Park High School, plan to cycling the Coast to Coast route from Whitley Bay to Whitehaven during the summer holidays.

The gruelling 145-mile trip will demand high levels of fitness and mental toughness as the route will take the duo over some very remote and hilly parts of the country.

The pair are expected to start the journey towards the end of August which will give them time to prepare physically for the event.

Mr Clubb, who had his knee reconstructed earlier in the year following a sporting accident, is especially keen to be fully fit for the journey.

Inspired by fencing taster sessions, organised by Claire Wilson from the Chester Academy, the pair felt that the sport would have a real future at the Handbridge school.

Mr Clubb said: “Fencing is a fantastic sport that gives so many students the opportunity to be creative, expression and competitive.”

The duo’s challenge is sponsored by The Bike Factory.
