THE Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are coming on an official visit to Chester next month.

For security reasons it is not possible to reveal the exact schedule of the Queen’s visit.

The official website of the British monarchy says only that the “The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will visit Cheshire” on June 10.

A spokeswoman for the Queen said details would be revealed two weeks before the visit.

One of the local organisers of the Chester visit said: “It will be great for Chester.”

The last time Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were in Chester was in November 2004 for the marriage of the Duke of Westminster’s daughter Lady Tamara the cathedral.

Also present on that occasion were Princes William and Harry who acted as ushers.

Conspicuous by their absence were the princes’ father Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, who pulled just a few days beforehand amid rumours of a row over seating arrangements.

Security for the June visit is bound to be tight. More than 100 police officers were involved in the security operation at the wedding which saw the closure of roads, searches of drains and roof top snipers.
