A GROUP of young film-makers have triumphed in a national competition.

In the latest in a long list of accolades including winning an international art competition and being runners-up in Chester in Bloom, a team of ICT pupils from Saighton Primary School have had their film selected to be screened at the Co-operative Young Film Makers Festival.

Our School, Our Village, premiered at the school on October 17, is a short film about village life over the past 100 years using archive material from the school log books, registers and photographs from local resident Eileen Williams.

Len Stockton, 87, the oldest surviving ex-pupil of the school, featured in the film.

Head teacher Mavis Sellers said: “The children plan to make a follow up film on the history of the school and the village itself.”
