Students at Upton-by-Chester High School are following the Yellow Brick Road to Runcorn.

The youngsters are mounting a full scale production of The Wizard of Oz at The Brindley arts centre next week.

From February 25- 27 Claire Brewin (Dorothy), Joe Poole (Tin Man), Ben Roycroft (Scarecrow) and Katie Fozzard (Lion) will set off on their quest to find the elusive Wizard (Joe Mears) with the help of 127 students onstage and off.

Director Chris Tierney explained the decision to take the production to Runcorn: “After 20 years of producing shows ranging from We Will Rock You to Les Miserables we decided that our students were capable of raising the bar even further and to meet this challenge we are staging this year’s production of The Wizard of Oz in a professional theatre.

“It should be a tremendous experience for all involved and we look forward to entertaining the audiences who’ve shown such amazing support.”

Tickets for The Wizard of Oz are available from The Brindley or telephone 0151 907 8360.
