NEARLY half of The King's School students gained As in every subject.

Thirteen students achieved four As while the following students gained five As: Richard Fletcher, of Neston, Luke Jackson, of Holywell, James Marsden, of Farndon and Brian McMahon of Handbridge.

Headmaster Tim Turvey said: 'These students experience continuous exam pressure from GCSE onwards and yet they enjoy outstanding success in sport, music, drama and other activities as well as achieving some of the best academic results in the country.

'These excellent results do not reflect the much debated grade inflation. They are testament to the tremendous hard work and motivation of King's students and the high quality teaching they receive.'

Smiles of success

ONE in two students at Christleton High School achieved all A and B grades.

Fifteen of the school's students received three or more As, giving a statistic of one in 10 gaining straight As.

Two students stood out for Christleton, Jennifer Gaskell and Jenny May achieved four grade As each.

Examining body AQA will use work by Jenny and fellow student Matthew Coyne in English literature as examples for markers and students nationally.

The 15 students celebrating a hat-trick of As are Katie Collins and Jenny Gaskell, who will be taking gap years before both studying medicine.

Ceri Fisher, Sarah Hunter, Eleanor McCubbie and Elizabeth McGimpsey who will all be studying in Leeds. Robert Henney and Thomas Neeld who will be going to study in Warwick. Rachael Kingston and English subject star Jenny May will study in Bristol.

Simon Downing and Lauri Sinkiss will be studying in Manchester, Emily Pinn will be studying philosophy at St Andrews, Rhiannon Smith, natural sciences in Durham and Tom Coxon will be studying computer sciences at Cambridge.

The pass masters

ANOTHER year of students celebrated at Abbey Gate College at Saighton Grange with an overall A-level pass rate of 100%.

The college's best results came from Richard Monaghan, 18, of Tarporley, who gained four As.

Nathan Wren, 18, of Holt, and Martin Dixon, 18, of Winsford, celebrated after receiving two As and one B. Tom Hancock, 18, of Chester, Adam Williams, 18, of Nantwich and Emma Davies, 18, of Chester all received an A and two Bs.

Deputy headteacher David Meadows said: 'The students have continued to achieve the highest standards of academic excellence.'

Exam excellence

NESTON High are celebrating their best ever results.

The pass rate was more than 99% and headteacher Ruth Winter-son was delighted: 'We are very proud of the achievements of all our students.

Both they and the staff deserve great credit for the hard work that goes towards producing results like this.'

Nicholas Coombes, with 3As and 1B and Corinna Long, Peter Carter and Anna Hales, all with 3As, did exceptionally well.
