THEY’RE off to see the wonderful Wizard of Oz at the King’s Junior School in Chester this week.

Involving all the Year 4 children, the traditional play is living up to the usual high expectations of previous productions.

Based on the book written by L Frank Baum, teacher Jan Anderson has adapted the story to give every child a speaking part.

Supported by Year 6 pupils backstage and in the percussion band, together with ex-junior school sixth-formers on lighting and sound, the musical extravaganza has been delighting audiences all week.

Simon Malone, head of the junior school, said: “The high standard of performance from all the children, some as young as eight, is truly outstanding and I am very proud of them all.”
