FOOTBALL fever is sweeping Halton - nowhere more so than at Hallwood Park Primary School, where pupils and staff have been celebrating with a World Cup day.
Football fans at the Runcorn school havebeenbacking Englandalltheway while raising money for school funds with a day of football-themed activities.
The day kicked off with children arriving for school dressed in their football kits and having their faces painted. At lunch-time, everyone tucked into a special World Cup meal, at which all the food was foot-ball-shaped.
There was a raffle, with top prize being a football singed by England star Wayne Rooney.
Pupils were taught about the geography and culture of all the other competing countries.
After school, pupils put their skills to the test in a penalty shoot-out.
The day raised £226.50 for school funds, which will go towards residential trips for the juniors and day trips for the younger children.
