STAFF at a Chester city centre pub raised money for a good cause with a fancy dress night.

The Pied Bull in Northgate Street presented Dorin Park Special School with a cheque for £626, the proceeds of its annual Hallowe’en fun and games.

Co-owner John Wright said the inn is expected to exceed its annual fundraising target of £1,000.

He added: “We also held a fancy dress contest, won by Keith and Bev Poynton of Blacon. They shared first place with Podge, a Yorkshire terrier cross dressed as Casper the ghost!

“We would like to thank everyone who donated prizes, and all our customers.”

Headteacher Annie Hinchcliffe said: “The Pied Bull has raised funds for us over many years.

“During the past year, we have built a resource centre for pupils, ex-pupils and the community. We need to equip the building with specialised equipment and new furnishings. The donation will be used for this project.”
