A DERELICT pub could be demolished to make way for future redevelopment of the site.

Seddon Homes have submitted an application to Cheshire West and Chester Council seeking permission to demolish the Copper Kettle on By-Pass Road in Tarvin.

An outbuilding would also be demolished as part of the plan.

The developer hopes to start demolition work next month and expect it to be completed by February next year.

Tarvin Parish Council gave its backing to the work when members discussed the proposal at Monday’s monthly meeting.

Chairman David Cotgreave, who told members the pub was first built in the 1930s, described it as ‘dangerous’ to get to due to its location.

Cllr Jonathan Kirby said demolishing the pub would mean trade being directed to the village High Street.

Cheshire West and Chester Council is expected to make a decision on the application in December.
