It was a bad day on the roads near Chester yesterday (August 23).
A silver BWW car, travelling in the direction of Chester, left Warrington Road between the M53 roundabout and Hoole roundabout about 6.30pm colliding with a tree. Only one vehicle was involved. Police closed the road while the vehicle was moved to the side of the dual carriageway.
The driver, who was uninjured, made their way home to arrange for the car to be towed away.
Earlier in the day traffic had been heavy in both directions on the M56.
There were reports of an accident westbound between junction 15 and the A494, which happened just before 5pm which led to a lane closure.
But congestion had also been bad eastbound around the same stretch.
‘Stanno’ tweeted at 6.43pm: “Crash M56 backing up to M53 and crash at Hoole roundabout M53 BMW with half a tree on its roof #crashesallover.”
Marco Alessi said on Twitter at the time: “Now stuck on the #M56 #tired #traffic.”
Kelly Dace tweeted: “Nasty crash #M56.”
